My Two Cents in Media Service Ideas
During summer 2011, a friend of mine had done his grant automobile tour around Europe. The trip has given him so much pleasure that he spent consider amount of time afterward to talk about experience on the journey, while also some up and downs. One thing had attracted my attention was how difficult to find a convenient and desired life facilities along with a constantly changing schedule. There I am talking about events, hotels, restaurants, wifi and all other attractions. Considering GPS has become such popular device for people’s daily life, either as automobile devices or combine with mobile phones and other telecommunication enablers, I think it can enhance its functions and linked with media services more closely.
Some technology enabler come to my mind includes regional telecommunication push messages, Near Field Communication (NFC) and local wifi connection enable page. Smart phone could acting as receivers here, same as telecommunication enabled flat computer or GPS.
Local tourist organization could offer travelers service to provide hotel information which is in synchronization with booking situation to provide passing by tourist visibility for possible accommodations. This is well draw into location services with GPS devices.
Among the information, there could be also voting system and feedback sections from other tourist to check out the credibility of accommodation as well as information. Such information only available within certain distance and valid for the moment so passing by tourist can get speedy info, therefore avoiding waste time in searching also avoid spending big amount of money for under desired rooms. The same idea goes also for restaurant, events and other tourist related facilities. List all interest point and events for tourist on a real time base would facilitate instant travelers a lot.
Another idea would be indoor navigation. Compare with GPS which can direct all the way for an around-the-world trip, indoor navigation would serve in hospital, shopping mall and other indoor facilities. This is nothing fancy since such idea already available many years ago. But the smooth transform from outdoor GPS to indoor navigation is not yet ready as popular solutions. Without getting into too much about technology development and commercialization, I think current location service could make is happen rather easily. Navigation from place to another, providing booking situation update, providing commercial information about discount, events, and promotions would be one of the key benefits for both recipient and originator.
NFC serve as promotion channel has been studies for years. Many experts even saying NFC’s most efficient function is for agent drive marketing communication. However, I believe company can shorten their communication channel with ending customer by providing NFC communication messages. In the messages, company can do their customer survey for their market and products, giving tips of utilizing products in more attractive perspectives, providing product info and getting feedback for their products. All these information can be saved in low energy tag along with NFC and collected back to companies. While doing the marketing communication, company builds its brand image.
Some other media services can be also life coaching interaction blogs. As everyone knows, life coaching is to guide patient discover the potential of him/herself and gradually guide patient out of crisis and finding solutions for life situations. Sometimes, a coach that does not have too much personal link with patient was considered to be good for certain case. Patient Blog or writings are showing a person’s logical thinking, style of behavior and tracing the progress of coaching section. Interaction between patient and life coacher on blog will provide a traceable record for the cure process.
Above mentioned are only part of media services that had pop-upped to be part of my think.
Me Manual
After a personal thinking modes mapping happened during course in Mediabizlab, I am going to write down some words about me and best way for others to use my talent.
I am close to be a Clarifier with score 9 out of 10, less a developer with score 3 out of 10, an Ideator with score 7 out of 10 and an implementer with 9 out of 10. When sum these qualification together, it makes me more close to “Idea Broker”, which assembles high clarifier, ideator&implementer.
According to Gerard J. Puccio, Idea Brokers are innovation activists. They do their homework. They generate and play with lots of ideas. They quickly buy into an idea and move on it. Effective Idea Brokers can become so enamoured with an idea they have a tendency to jump straight into implementation. That’s because their energy tends to dip noticeably during the step in the breakthrough thinking process when they are called upon to develop rough ideas into workable solutions. Idea Brokers could improve their effectiveness by allowing more time for the idea’s evaluation and development. They may do well to collaborate with Develpers. They would be wise to cultivate patience for developing prototypes that could be used to test and refine their best ideas before they race into actoin.
